Prototyping

Where customers require prototypes, Amies can support this in a variety of ways both in-house and external via a network of expert suppliers.

Prototyping

Our Prototyping service  provides a crucial step in our design and development process for our customers. This allows for the creation of a preliminary version of a product or system to test ideas, gather feedback, and make necessary adjustments before final production.

With an expert partner to support right through from the earliest stages to volume production this will ensure that no ‘wrong paths’ that will cause problems later are taken along the way.

These days prototyping is an essential element in many projects enabling the verification of design integrity and functionality. However there is an inherent risk that the prototyping methods and component designs used will include elements that cannot be replicated in the intended mass production process.

Unfortunately over the years we have only been permitted to become involved in many projects at a later stage, where prototypes used for testing and validation have already been produced and include such NOK areas.

This inevitably leads to a lot of work, frustration and cost to the customer to resolve the issue and then frequently having to re-test. Worse still, sometimes the customer has to persist with a sub-optimal design and product quality issues because changes that would have been simple at an earlier stage are no longer possible.

Consequently Amies always seek to become involved at the earliest possible stage of a project where Injection Moulding is to be the desired serial production method.
This allows us to add our Injection Moulding  expertise to the early designs and prototypes ensuring that the best value is obtained, with designs that can carry through with minimal changes and without issues that will compromise the later stages.

To support these requirements we have both SLA and FDM 3D printing capability in-house backed up by a panel of sub-contract specialist suppliers that can provide other processes such as SLS, Machining, Vacuum Casting, RIM and many more.

Beyond this we can source low volume prototype or ‘bridge to production’ injection mold tooling at competitive cost allowing the production of fully design intent components in the specified material.

Where customers source and manage the prototyping on their project via Amies, we are able to offer the full benefit of our expertise and take responsibility for ensuring this aspect delivers the optimum result.
